Adding rock structures to your layout is a great way to have fun with the scenery while also adding some great detail. What’s the best part about creating these structures? There’s no science to it!
In this segment, you will learn how to create realistic looking rock structures by using just a few simple supplies.
The first step is to mix up the plaster. The key here is to add the plaster to the water in order for the plaster to slowly dissolve so the mixture doesn’t become hard before you are able to use it. The next step is to get creative! You can form large or small rock masses by chipping away at the partially dried plaster, making sure to avoid creating obvious knife cuts.
The last step is to paint the rock structures. You can mix light and dark colored paint to enhance your rock work and create authentic scenery.
Be sure to use these helpful tips and tricks when casting rock structure in your next layout!
