In this video, we will make disused steamer parts as roundhouse details. I have found over time that these are made either hard paper or, in this case, plastic tubing. Cut away the cotton part on one side. Since it's plastic, I use a solvent-based paint. This one's from Humbrol. It's Humbrol #33 Matt Black. With a black primer in place, we will now add the corroded surface. For this, we're using two acrylic paints. This is Cavalry Brown and Burnt Umber. The acrylic paint is applied using pieces of a torn kitchen sponge. This way, we'll get random color patterns and also a textured surface. These acrylic paints are matte so they will give you a highly-realistic result, but you can also add pastel powder if you like to enhance it even further.
