Fall Protection Barriers for Hidden Tracks

MRA Editors
Duration:   1 mins

Description

Occasionally, trains can derail or crash in hidden areas. This can be difficult to fix if the crash takes place in a hard-to-reach area. A simple fall protection barrier can easily be added to your layout to help prevent derailing. We will be using transparent product packages to make this barrier.

Fall protection or crash barriers can be added to hidden track sections. Curtains nowadays most often comes in long transparent packings, which are perfectly suited for this. I start to disassemble the packing and then I cut two-inch wide strips of this transparent plastic. Okay, so here's a strip ready for application. The transparent plastic strips are fixed to the woodwork using a staple gun. The transparent plastic is stiff enough to prevent derailed cars to fall into the ground and the transparency allows both for adjustments and cleaning of the track. These type of barriers has saved me a lot of headache, compare to my previous layouts, where I didn't have these.
