The Allegheny Midland is an extension of the Nickel Plate Road southeast into West Virginia, hauls coal out of the mountains, serves as a bridge line between the Nickel Plate and Allen McClelland's Virginian & Ohio. Set in the 1950s, so you're gonna see a lot of steam, but you're gonna see the first generation diesel as well. The Allegheny Midland is a coal hauling railroad set in Virginia and West Virginia. It's freelance, but the equipment is based on the Nickel Plate and structures on the Chesapeake & Ohio. Thus, Tony has developed a believable railroad that is enhanced by his careful research into what the prototype does. This passion for authentic details has made the AM one of the most admired model railroads in the country. His interest in operation proceeds naturally from this desire to create a piece of history. To Tony and his operators, the AM exists beyond the basement, and even interchanges with other model railroads.
