This is my railroad, the HO scale Bluff City Southern. It's set in 1950, the much-loved transition era. I modeled five of the railroads that made Memphis a major distribution center for the mid-South. Construction of the layout began in 1997, and now the railroad runs from staging in Greenville, Mississippi through Memphis to staging in Forrest City, Arkansas. Later, a line from downtown Memphis to Jackson, Tennessee will be built. I believe deep scenes with detail are important in creating the look of the South that I showcased on the BCS. Hi, I'm Allen Keller. Welcome to my Bluff City Southern. This is my wife, Janet. Allen, I want to know, how did you end up living in the basement? Well, you know, I don't really live in the basement. It just seems like that maybe most of the time, but I'm not down here all the time, am I? No, I don't really live in the 44 by 30 foot layout space, although I do plan to complete the Tennessee section in five or six years. The Bluff City Southern is built on two inch styrofoam panels with homasote roadbed. The minimum radius is 34 inches. We'll start your visit to the mid-South at Friars Point, Mississippi.
